TORONADO SPORTFISHING

Toronado Sportfishing

Established in 1968, the Toronado is deeply rooted in the
Iconic History of Long Beach, CA.

Today, Toronado Sportfishing is owned by Captain Joe Phillips,
and managed by Captain, Ray Lagmay.

Together, Joe and Ray have over 60 years of Maritime Experience, combined.

"The Toronado has been the premier Overnight Boat in Long Beach -
Serving San Nicolas, Catalina and the Channel Islands
For over 40 years.

She cruises at a comfortable 11 knots to get us on the fishing grounds early. The deck hands are careful to drop the fish in our fish hold to keep it just above freezing.

In the Spring, we concentrate on the phenomenal Rock Cod and Surface Fishing at the islands and offshore.

In the Summer, we go on the hunt for migratory species... Tuna, Yellowtail, Dorado and many more.

In the Fall, we switch to a lot of Multi-Day-Trips that afford us more time and further distances. These trips concentrate on the offshore banks like The Legendary Cortez, and Tanner Banks that are situated between 80 and 100 miles from the landing.

Going on an extended trip means 'Good Food & Plenty of It!'
We also offer Private Charters...

- Captain Joe Phillips, Owner

Captain Joe began his maritime career in San Diego, and after 20 years working in the Commercial Diving Industry; owned and ran several sportfishing boat operations, including The Old Glory, The Constitution and The Dominator. He brings all that expertise to the Toronado....

Captain Ray has served on the Toronado for a large portion of his career, and has become synonymous with the boat's reputation.

The crew works hard to ensure you don't have to. If the fish aren't biting, you'll find them in the galley cooking up good food for good times.
